Happy Birthday Mia!

Here are some cake pops I made this weekend for a little girl named Mia. She was turning 8 years old and wanted some "Tiffany blue" and white cake pops. Here's how they turned out...! (I also made a few mini cupcakes and other cake pops for some friends I was seeing this weekend)

I found a way to use some of my new "Tiffany blue" stands.. hehe
In the picture..

I Promise, I'm Still Here!!

Wow, I haven't updated this blog in forever! I should warn you all that this post will be super long aka I'll be posting at least over 30 pictures (yikes!).. Hopefully this post will recap everything I've done since my last post for those of you who do not follow me on my other social media accounts! Otherwise, if you have been following me on Instagram or Facebook..thank you! I will be reposting my pictures so no need to read this post! :) As for everyone else..here we go...........!

I'll start with the most recent things I've done and go down from there...

Today:
Okay, this isn't one of my "Kreations," buuuuut aren't they adorable?! I'm dying for someone to throw a "Tiffany's" theme party! You'll see later in this post that I now have quite a collection of stands... oops.. but hey! These, along with my other stands are available for rent if you need something to spice up your desserts for whatever occasion you may be throwing! :) Email me at KaressKreations@yahoo.com for more info.
Saturday, August 31:
A woman named Jennifer contacted me a little while ago for some cupcakes and cake pops for her daughter's 1st birthday and here they are altogether! P.S. see that silver 3 tiered stand? It's one of the stands in my collection...heh ;)

Sunday, August 25:
One of my friends and dear neighbor's birthday was on August 26th. However, I knew that I would be busy that day, given that it would be my first day back in school. Since I wouldn't be able to take her out, I decided that I'd make her a fruit tart (she had been telling me that she had been craving for one) a day early. I'm actually quite proud of myself for how it came out! This tart is definitely a lot prettier than the one I made back in 2012 for Mother's Day... P.S this silver stand that the tart is sitting on is another stand I recently got hehe. I also have another exactly like it but bigger. You could stack both on each other and put cupcakes all over them!

These are what I'd like to call "Sparkly blue cake pops!" My cousin's girlfriend wanted to give some treats to some of her co-workers so I made a few cake pops for her to take to them. I also made cupcakes, but failed to take any pictures of them :|

This is a cake I made for my Grandma's birthday! I really wanted to make a tiered cake that wasn't covered in fondant so I thought it'd be nice to make her one for her birthday. I also knew that she liked the color purple so I incorporated some purple flowers I had. Overall she liked it! The idea of me going into culinary arts hasn't always been the greatest to her so I'm hoping that it's getting a bit better now that she's seen that I could make a cake like this for her...? She supposedly wants me to help her with a charity event sometime in September. As of now, I barely know any details so I guess we'll all just have to wait and see what happens! P.S here is yet ANOTHER stand that I recently got! I'm telling you.. I have gotten SO many stands over the last two months.. it's pretty ridiculous..but I love them! Do you see my struggle!?

For some odd reason, I was REALLY craving for those "Lofthouse" cookies that you find in grocery stores. I had always seen recipes for them but had never tried. Now that I have baked for awhile, I thought, "why not try now?!" I ended up baking two batches. They were actually pretty good (considering I didn't listen to the ingredients and directions in the recipes I found)! Want these cookies for a dessert table or special occasion? Contact me for the minimums and pricing!

This has nothing to do with me and my baking, but since I am beginning to meet some of you, I thought I'd post this picture. Some of you have seen my NTV feature and/or any personal pictures of myself on this blog and probably can tell that my hair has DRASTICALLY changed...  Basically, I've been wanting to donate my hair since I was in 2nd grade. Although, I was never willing to let go of having long hair. In July, I began to realize that I really needed to just gain some courage and to donate my hair. I won't lie, I looked around for the charity that asked for the least amount of hair. I found a place that was willing to take 8 inches. Any who, when I got my hair cut the hairdresser actually ended up cutting a lot more than I bargained for... Instead of cutting 8 inches, she cut 16.5 inches.... It is now September and my hair is basically at the same length. I'm slowly adjusting to this hair length.. :|
Oh, and if you haven't seen her in any of my previous posts, that dog in the picture is, Oreo.. aka the love of my life! She is 17 years old (human years) meaning that she's quite old in dog years.. We've both grown up a lot together and as I've gotten older, I've tried to let her experience and travel to various places. I realized I had never taken her hiking! I knew at this age, it miiiiight have not been the best idea but I just wanted her to see what it'd be like. I also wanted to take her to see my sister's place in LA. Not sure how much she loves LA anymore after this trip.. My sister lives decently enough that we could walk to the hiking trail so that's what we did! On the way there, Oreo was already dying, but we were sooo close to getting there! I was willing to do whatever it would take to get her to go on the hike - even if it meant that I would have to carry her for over 5 miles (which is what ended up happening hahah)! So hopefully this explains why she looks the way she looks in those pictures... I guess she could also look, "happy" to some, but really she was just dying of thirst (for some reason she refused to drink the bottled water we brought.. she's a very sassy girl!) and heat. I can't blame her!

These were made mainly because I was bored and I'm always looking for a way to "perfect" cake pops. Some people have told me that my cake pops are pretty smooth and look fine, although, what some people don't know is that I actually am not one of those people who add shortening to "thin" out of candy coatings. In fact, you will not be able to find any tubs/blocks/etc of shortening in my house! My mom would kill me even if I bought the littlest amount! I strictly do my best to try and buy higher quality products so that you get a smoother and shortening free cake pop!

A classmate from high school asked me to make cupcakes for her cousin's wedding after trying one of mine from the Dance Show I did back in June.

Hasn't it been awhile since I last talked about any of my stands?! :P As you can probably tell, this is another stand I just purchased! I like that you could either display cupcakes or just a smaller cake on the very top

Saturday, August 3
I made this cake for my sister due to the fact that she LOVES watermelons! She always makes sure to steal any watermelons we have whenever she come home from LA!
Wednesday, July 31
Sooo national cheesecake day was on July 30th but I failed to complete this until VERY EARLY July 31st. Sad.. :( but still tasted good!!

Cupcakes I made for a girl who wanted to surprise her mom.

A purple ombre ruffled cake I made for Dorian, my sister's friend!
Seashell and pearl cupcakes I made for a little girl's birthday!
Sunday, July 14
Cupcakes I made for my friend, Tiffany. She and her family wanted to bring some cupcakes in honor of her grandma's birthday. Tiffany had told me that her mom loved my flower cupcake designs but also wanted some cupcakes with minimal fondant which is why I made the cupcakes below.

The design for this also came about due to the fact that Tiffany's grandma loves all things under water related.

Lisa, who had previously ordered cupcakes and cake pops for her daughter's graduation party emailed me about making beach themed cupcakes. I originally thought that the reason that she would want these kind of cupcakes was maybe they were throwing a bonfire for her birthday? Or maybe she just simply loves the beach! I later found out that the reason why Lisa wanted me to make beach themed cupcakes was because her daughter and a few friends had gone to a hotel near the beach to stay for the night. It also turns out that these cupcakes were a surprise and Rachel (Lisa's daughter) had no idea that she would be getting these!
Rachel with her cupcake!
I always love hearing feedback like this. Makes my day! :)
Sunday, July 7
Cream puffs are something I just always seem to crave if I'm craving for a specific dessert. Don't know why, but I love em!

MMMMM CREAM....CREAM PUFFS

Cake pops for a bridal shower!

Thursday, July 4
Now and then people always want some old fashioned buttercream roses. However, I would not say that those are one of my specialties.. I mean these look alright but I think there is always room for improvement. Also, it's a good thing that these cupcakes were strictly made for just my family (I like to experiment different techniques and recipes with them.. :P)! If I were to have messed up, I wouldn't even have to worry one single bit!
Ya! Red, white, and blue!
Saturday, June 29
A girl in my neighborhood was having a little get together with some friends for her birthday. She really loved the idea of having "Tiffany blue" colored cake pops and cupcakes (see below) so these are what I made!

Too bad I didn't have those stands that I just got today, huh? :(
Wednesday, June 26
My younger cousin has been baking for fun for quite some time now. She doesn't go to the extent that I go to (she bakes from box vs. me baking from scratch) but wanted to come over to learn whatever she could from me (I'm no expert! In fact, I am currently in school to learn more about the art!) We made: cake pops, macarons, and cakes. The cakes she ended up decorating them all, but I did not take any pictures of it...
Macarons!

AND THAT'S IT!!!! I applaud anyone who has just gone through and read this entire post! Hopefully I won't have to make another post this long but I cannot make any promises. To stay updated I would advise that you check out my Instagram and/or Facebook! Please email me at KaressKreations@yahoo.com if you would like to rent out any of my stands. There are tons more that I have that were not mentioned in this particular post, so email me for more details. Talk to you all soon!

Playing Around

Now that I'm finished with my first year of college, I find myself easily getting bored. When I get bored, I sometimes bake or buy things to decorate...

Chocolate covered strawberries. My friends and I originally planned to make these together but they ended up giving me the strawberries and told me to make them myself and to let them know when they were ready. Great friends, huh? :P
White chocolate covered strawberries. Maybe a good idea for Fourth of July? ;)
Flat bottomed and rounded chocolate cake pops.

Graduation cake pops! I still need to buy square molds to make the caps,  but this was just me playing around to see if I   was capable in making customized cake pops.

The Next Chapter

This past Thursday and Friday was Northwood high school's annual Dance Theatre spring dance show. The theme of the show changes every year (last years was "Dance Dance Evolution"), with this year's being, "The Next Chapter." With this theme, choreographers were asked to choreographed pieces inspired by stories. Dances that were influenced in the show varied from Peter Pan, Twilight, Harry Potter, Romeo and Juliet, and so much more! This theme was so unique that it even caught the OC Register's attention! The article can be found here.

I had baked for the show's bake sale last year so I was honored to be asked to do it again this year (Thank you Mrs. Scialpi!). Although, since I was no longer a member of the dance program, this meant that I had to be outside the theater selling my baked goods. This was all new to me. I had always been performing in the shows so I didn't really know how things worked. I hope all in all I did okay..?! Luckily, one of my friends had finished her first year of college and was able to help me out as much as she could for the bake sale. She was a bit scared to bake some cupcakes for me but that was okay since instead, she was able to help me package cake pops and cupcakes, along with making a few mini fondant flower decorations. I can't thank her enough for helping me! Thank you Nicole!!

Unlike last year's cupcakes, I focused on providing more flavors of cupcakes to the bake sale (last year's were all red velvet), rather than making fondant decorations for most of the dances in the show. I was able to make a few, but it definitely wasn't as much as last year's show. I've also noticed that a lot of people are loving cake pops, so I added those to the mix as well!
The cake pops I made for the show. From left to right: chocolate, vanilla bean, and red velvet.

Meet my friend, Nicole! Without her help, I probably wouldn't be able to provide as many baked goods as I did. So thank you again!
Good job to all of the dancers who performed! I hope you guys had a blast! And for all of the graduating seniors - I hope you cherished every moment! I remember being really sad when I realized it would be my last time performing for Northwood. To everyone who came to the show and/or bought a cupcake or cake pop - thank you so much!!
