SPRING SPRING SPRING

Spring is here!! ...which for me means it's...SPRING BREAK! Don't worry, I'm not the type that goes out causing mishap around town! In fact, I actually have a midterm in one of my classes after my break is over :( . Anyways, let's keep this post in a happier tune...

This week I...

-Made "Welcome Home" cupcakes!
A guy I knew from high school wanted to get his mommy something special because she was coming back home after a trip.

-Made cupcakes for a "Cake Walk!"
A club from my old high school called, "She's the First" invited me to make cupcakes for their "Cake Walk."She's the First is a non-profit organization that helps raise awareness for girls' education in third world countries. For more information on their club, visit their Facebook page and "like" them! :)
I was asked to color the frostings of the cupcakes to resemble the club's colors (Purple and Teal).

It was originally planned that I would give the club, regular/frosted cupcakes but, at the last minute I decided to also give them some fondant flowers and letters ("S","T" & "F") in case they wanted to give the cupcakes a bit more flair. Also, thank you to Hannah Pacun for this picture!!

While I was making the cupcakes for them, I had found out that they were giving the cupcakes away so I thought it'd be nice to give the members of the club some mini cupcakes for all their hard work! :) *Thank you again to Hannah Pacun for this picture as well!

& that's it for now! Upcoming on Monday, March 25th will be, I guess you could say my second year anniversary since working with fondant? For those who are curious, you can see how my first experience with fondant, here
**Warning: my first time working with fondant wasn't my finest hour... and I can only hope that I have improved with my fondant work since then!!

New Flavor?

For the longest time I've been wanting to make and add green tea flavored cupcakes to my flavor options. I attempted to make some last night but as always, I think I may still want to tweak some things and see if any improvements can be made. Hopefully I can have some more opinions and see what people think! As of now, I'm thinking that I might surprise some students at the high school I went to. If not, I'll probably stop by to some of my family's houses. We'll see [I may update this post depending on what happens hehe]! Here are how the cupcakes looked! [I also made cake pops because some of the cupcakes had risen too much]
Green tea cupcakes topped with a white chocolate green tea buttercream! The inspiration for the buttercream came from my parents because they apparently had eaten out somewhere and had the best white chocolate green tea fondue ever!

Ooh Ooh Baby

So I'm not really sure if this is supposed to be on the down low or whatnot but let's just say that I got asked to make baby shower cupcakes for one of my favorite teachers in high school! I've known about the pregnancy since I want to say Halloween (..?), but it wasn't until today that I'd be making the actual cupcakes for the shower. Ah, I'm so excited for her! I forgot to take pictures of what I gave her, but I made her a grey cardigan and blue with a hint of white sweater for her baby. Hopefully, she'll send pictures when/if he wears it! :D Any who, I was told to make jungle themed cupcakes, so here's my take on them!

This was used as inspiration to make some of the toppers

On a more depressing note (sorry..), earlier this week, my friend asked me to make cupcakes for her and her friends back in college. Let's just say they didn't have the most pleasant trip ever... :| Also, sorry for the terrible quality pictures.. I was in a rush..

Coming soon..

It's been quite some time since I've last made a post. However, I've been busy creating some things that I am ready to share now! Many people know me for making desserts but just a couple of months ago, I had a post about me getting more involved with the art of knitting. Because of this somewhat new love for knitting (I first starting learning when I was about in 6th grade), I've finally decided that I'll start selling my knit wear! They aren't for sale at this very moment, but will be in a couple of days. Why make this point if they aren't even on sale yet? Well.... last week I had a friend of mine take some of his time to let me have photoshoots and tonight he sent me the first batch of pictures and I'm just too excited not to share!! So here are some things you can expect to see on sale soon! :)

Hand Knitted Eyelet Sweater in "Lapis"
Hand Knitted Eyelet Sweater in "Off White"
Hand Knitted Eyelet Sweater in"Quicker Clover"
Hand Knitted Lace Dress in "Off White"
Hand Knitted Lace Cowl in "White"
Hand Knitted Lace Scarf in "Camel"
And that's it (for now)! I have a few pieces that were finished after the photo shoot but these are the general garments that I'll be selling! So stay tuned for more! I've also baked a bit since my last update...
\These cupcakes were made for my cousin, Bryanna. She enjoys painting her nails and doing all those fun nail art things so I thought I'd make her cupcakes that were inspired by nail art that she's done/liked (examples below). The pandas were made because the last time I saw her she had a crystalized panda iphone case so I thought why not! Haha
These were done by Bryanna.
These "New York Skyscraper" themed nails were done by my friend, Tiffany and my cousin saw them and fell in love with them.

Yay Summer!

Wooo! It's finally summertime! I'm finally graduated from high school and I don't have to worry about school until the fall! :D Congrats to the class of 2012! WE DID IT! Nevertheless I am oh so very sorry for lagging with my posts! But don't fret! I'll catch you guys up! ;)

June 15th (Rose themed cupcakes for Mrs. Crowley):
Flavor: Peanut butter chocolate chip with chocolate buttercream
Flavor: Chai with cream cheese buttercream
I'll try to sum this up as much as a I can, but basically Mrs. Crowley was my TA teacher for the past four years and June 15th was my last day of high school so I thought I'd thank her for all of the things she's done for me. :)
P.S. you see that person to the left of me? That's Mrs. Crowley! Isn't she fabulous?! ;)
Also thank you to Allen Chiu for taking this picture!

June 17th (Father's Day):
Flavor: Chocolate with chocolate buttercream
June 29th (Dodgers/baseball themed cake and cupcakes for Sean's birthday):
Flavor: Red velvet with cream cheese buttercream

Once again...
CONGRATS CLASS OF 2012! :D

Dance Dance Evolution

This post is late, but remember how I kept trying to promote Northwood High School's, "Dance Dance Evolution" dance show? Well, you guys only got to see a sneak peak at what I was actually doing...so here are the pictures of all the cupcakes I did (for Friday night)! :)
*note: I made the same decorations for both the Thursday and Friday show, except I made more undecorated ones for Friday due to a bigger audience.

**I'd like to give a big thank you to Quincie Li who took these wonderful pictures!! It's pretty evident that I am a terrible photographer, so I'm glad that she was willing to take these pictures for me! :)

Soo many cupcakes!
My version of a "timeline" in cupcakes. It starts from the bottom left and zig-zigs to the right. The timeline starts all the way from Pangea up until 3012 (future).
"Pangea"
"Neanderthals"
"The Golden Age of Greece"
"The Great Plague"
"Arabian Nights"
"Renaissance Spirit"
"Enlightenment"
"The Spanish Empire"
"Scientific Development"
"Moving West"
"Romantic Times"
"La Belle Epoque"
"Progressive Connections"
"Women's Rights"
"The Great Depression"
"World War III"
"Grease is the Word"
"Bob Fosse Leaves His Mark"
"80s Dance Up a Sweat"
"Stomp the Yard"
"Natural Disaster"

"2012"
"Bare Bones"

3012

On another note, many of you probably didn't know this about me, but not only did I help raise money by selling these cupcakes, but I actually was in the show too! I've actually been involved with Northwood High School's (my high school) dance program for 4 years. So this was unfortunately, my last dance show ever! :( Dance will definitely be a class that I will miss taking in high school. I hope that I can continue to support NHS dance at their future shows!

I'll miss you guys! :')
